First English Reading Competition for Year 7
This year, on 29th January 2026, Marienschule held its very first English Reading Competition for Year 7. Seven students took part in the event, while Mrs Hagen, Mrs Krcmar, and Mr Tumbrink formed the jury. All classmates of Year 7 were present and supported the participants as an enthusiastic audience.
In the first part of the competition, the students read a prepared text. In the second part, they were challenged with an unprepared text. Each participant received a different text to read. The jury awarded points and focused on pronunciation, articulation, accuracy of reading, fluency, intonation and expression.
All students did an excellent job and showed great confidence and skill in reading English texts. In the end, Zaarah Achmed (Class 7b) achieved first place and was awarded a great certificate and an English book for her outstanding performance.
